Why do people keep trying to make typhlosion dark? It has nothing that screams dark about it.

Honestly typhlosion really has no qualities of a second type. Ground is the closest id go, but even thats a stretch.

Why is Feraligart a Fighter Type? Dragon isn't really that strong anymore so it would be feasible for that, but even so, Why Fighting? There's nothing about it that suggests it would be other than it being aggressive, which many Pokémon are without being Fighting. Fighting types are more focused on discipline, martial arts, and a fighting spirit defined by an internal moral code. Most Fighting types are actually far less aggressive as a rule than the average Pokémon that would wield the same amount of power. Samurott is the Water starter deserving of being a Fighter type for that reason, not Feraligart. You are 6 years old.

Feraligatr could be Water/Dark since a big part of its dex entries is intimidation and tearing prey with its jaws, it would also make Crunch way stronger. Croconaw could lean to either Dark or Fighting just because of the caveman look. Honestly there are a lot of ways you could go with Feraligatr.

If you consider Dark to equal dirty fighting then Skuntank fits the bill since it's straight up farting on people with noxious gas.

Well it can look really mean, and I like the idea of cute little Cyndaquil becoming a bit of a jerk when it grows up. The dark coloration even if more based on smoke or volcanic ash could make it work in the gen that introduced dark type. Finally, most of its trading cards give me a dark/fire impression.

Fire/Ground like the the other anon said, maybe Fire/Rock if you're going for the magma/lava thing. You could even justify Fire/Normal but honestly they're all straight nerfs unless he got Earth Power/Power Gem/some signature special Rock/Ground move that buffs his speed.

Same reason as Gothitelle and Luxray. Dark type because it's blackish. No actual reason other than people keep thinking Dark type is evil/shadow/darkness when it's just dirty fighting.

Eh I guess. Personally I think Feraligatr is a much better fit for being part Dark type than Typhlosion. I could also see a decent argument for being part dragon, although I'm sure nobody would like that outside of a mega or something.

No. Typhlosion is pretty solidly a monotype. If anything maybe part Ground. Actually I'd be cool with it being part electric, but that's more of a personal taste thing.

Feraligatr is fine the way it is, if you really need to make it better, let it learn Thunder Punch, or, fuck it, Trop Kick or Seed Bomb so it can beat up on other water types.

Typhlosion seems like a hopeless case but I think changing its ability from Flash Fire to something more robust would do it wonders. Competitive, Stakeout, or Intimidate could give it a good niche, as well as fit its design perfectly well. A couple better mvoes would be nice too, its special pool is really shallow, maybe Energy Ball and Nasty Plot?

Instead of giving them dual types, which I feel goes against the "traditional" theme of Johto, what about giving them unique moves?

Scald, but Physical with a chance to inflict Paralysis instead of burn for Feraligatr.

For Typhlosion keep Burn Up, but change it so instead of becoming typeless after use, it becomes Normal, and give it good Normal type moves to use like Extreme Speed.

I would go for something that sets up Light Screen and Grassy Terrain.

I do like the sound of a deathroll for Feraligator, though I'd give Typhlosion something more to work with.
