>>41688073Pokemon started kind of feeling outlandish by Gen 7. I think why is because a lot of the designs in Gen 7 upon retrospect are really fucking weird, and even then I do like Gen 7. I don't think it went any further until LGPE, and even then I passed it along as I thought of it as nothing else but a pointless spin off of an overhyped region, even when LGPE has some of the most atrocious mechanics in a Pokemon game (Pokemon candies, the removal of hazard removal, abilities, or major coverage, later gen evolutions, etc.). I don't think a non-Pokemon feel has ever been in full throttle with me until Dexit, and that's because GameFreak pushed a button they shouldn't have pressed for many fans and opened a crack of massive criticism towards Gen 8, and thus ended up created a huge fucking PR mess that both Bethesda and Hello Games would be impressed with. It's kind of difficult to stay dedicated when Sword and Shield's pre-release season was a mess and made me drop a large amount of respect for the franchise going forward.
