If you think Sunflora is bad, try using Yanma in Gen 2.
>No Flying STAB until Wing Attack at Level 37, and only in Crystal - GS players get Swift instead
>No Bug STAB at all unless you breed for fucking Leech Life
>Only worthwhile coverage moves are Hidden Power (which may as well be STAB if you can get it), two grass-type moves (Giga Drain and SolarBeam) that aren't available until Kanto, breeding for Reversal off a Level 44 Heracross, and 40-power Thief
>Stuck with Headbutt/Return as its primary source of damage for most of the game
>Stats on par with Butterfree and Ledian, who can at least claim to have double powder and screens/elemental punches respectively
>Meanwhile Yanma's niche is fucking SonicBoom, which loses any usefulness it might've had against random trainers as soon as you reach Ecruteak City
>Outclassed by Dunsparce of all things in the incredibly specific category of "swarming shitmon"
>Quite possibly the worst fully-evolved bug in the game and one of the worst fully-evolved Pokémon in general
Seriously, I've used both Ledian and Shuckle on the same team in a playthrough of Silver and I doubt Yanma would even come close to being as useful as either of them, it's that bad. It can't even claim to be a gimmickmon like Ditto or Smeargle to excuse how ineffective it is in-game - it's just remarkably shit in every category.
It's still cool though.
