>Sonia becoming a Professor comes out of nowhereThis isn't even remotely true. She accompanies you throughout the entire game to do research on Galar's legends and unravel their mysteries and whatnot, and her becoming professor at the end is completely organic and expected.
>Rose being the antagonist comes out of nowhereWorded poorly but you're not completely wrong. He's clearly the antagonist from the start. Just fucking look at him. But the game does nothing to actually build him up or anything. He just does general Chairman Rose stuff for a small chunk of the game and then suddenly decides to end the world.
>Bede is built up, but then disappears midway through the game and doesn't come back until the endI have mixed feelings on this one. You're right, but I don't necessarily think his story was a complete failure as a result of this. What was eventually done with him I actually think was kinda' neat, but there was a distinct void without him until then.
>Marnie is basically a non-characterHer story is literally the best part of the game's plot. It may not be all that impactful, but it was well done.
