She only picked up Contests - in a blatant retread of Dawn and May - later, in what felt like a desperate attempt to give her some depth. However, not only did this change next to nothing, but every one of her performances is comprised mostly of her and her Pokemon twirling. I would go so far as to compare her to fanfiction, specifically written by a teenaged girl; one who changes the canon lead's backstory to try and pair him up with her self-insert, but is so incompetent at writing that it instead comes across as a psychotic stalker. Anime Serena was never a good character, and never will be.
