You know something is fucked up when the counterplay lies in a single Pokémon. I know everyone can use Dynamax but there's at least a dozen or so dynamax abusers where Ditto is the best if not the only counterplay option.

Dynamaxing literally doubles a pokemons HP, and gives it access to moves that do shit tons of damage, lower/increase stats, and set weather. Megas made a lot of shitty pokemon competitive, and basically turned them into pseudos.

Maybe its just the fact that I'm shitty at battles (I'm only in the 1300's in Showdown), but I'm kinda against it. I've never found Dynamax to be super obtrusive in battles as they are pretty easy to stall and imo aren't really that overpowered. But for all I know its a real problem for better players. With that said, I do think it is too early to just dump the mechanic. I'm worried this will create a precedent of banning any new aspect to battles

Any way to add any clauses to allow Dynamax in a way that it can be salvaged? Like the Pokémon must hold some item that's useless in-game to serve as a surrogate Mega Stone/Z-Crystal for Dynamax/Gigantamax, or is it still broken even at that point and requires more work like nerfing the max moves itself?

Notice the thing they have in common:
>Ability to double speed
Barraskewda, Hawlucha, Excadrill.
However double speed alone is not game breaker as Chlorophyll and Slush Rush are shit

>Ability to boost damage in top of speed
Hawlucha via max knuckle/pre Dmax Sword Dance
Gyarados Max Geyser rain and pre Dmax Dragon Dance
Barraskewda Max Geyser rain damage boost and Max knuckle Attack boost in top of it
Togekiss Nasty plot pre Dynamax, the Max Airstream speed boots

If you seriously compare megas and dynamax you're on some good shit. They are closer to zmoves, "just" not limited to one turn, not locked behind an item slot, and usually with better effects (only cost is slightly lower base power).

No it didn’t
Mega Kang was banned in December 2013. Aegislash being the most used in October and Talonflame being the most used in November, having far lower usage than Ditto and not affected at all by Mega Kang.

What I dont get is. Instead of banning it outright. Why don't they test dynamaxing and level 0? It makes things easier to deal with and revenge kill. Since it's not getting a full 2x HP boost.

Ban the Dynamax abusers until there's no unpredictable, swingy games left? Great, now Pex and friends just completely dominate the ladder. Ban them too to bring the game back into balance? Now you have the lesser offensive Dynamaxers back now that their previous blockades are removed. All you did was lower the power level of the tier, but it's still just as imbalanced and broken as before. Megas did not cause an infinite feedback loop of having to constantly ban Pokemon as the meta evolves, because there's only a handful of them. You can't just hand Salamencite to a Dragonite to make it a broken sweeper. Dynamax will always get have issues because it's impossible to fix the balance of the tier by banning Dynamax abusers. Something else gamebreaking will always take its place, because the individual Pokemon are not broken, the insane mechanic that can turn the average Pokemon into an autowin sweeper is.

Because it would still nearly as good at level 0. It doesn't really address the main issues with Dmax, being the absurdly broken moves and the dozen random move immunities DMax mons have. Level 0 is still a 50% boost right? That's usually still enough to tank a weaker SE attack or a super strong neutral attack anyways, so it's still too much bulk. Dynamax is likely just too broken for level 0 to fix.

I dont know, sounds off to me. I guess I haven't been playing showdown too much since I've been just playing on the switch. People have been outing my Dmax and I've been outting theirs rather consistently. So I dont see it as that big of an issue. It's all good how you all feel about it though, and if its bugging you I hope things go your way. But itd suck if it gets banned and everyone just complains that it's a boring straightforward meta or something.
