armored mons would have the same issue as megas, where only a select few would get armored forms with a good chunk not actually needing them and just getting them because of popularity/easy merchandising
add on top of that the fact that it would be an inherently defensive mechanic and you have the worst gimmick yet

How is this even a knock against shit like megas? I swear some people have such an idealized vision of fairness and balance where if not every Pokémon has access to something it’s immediately trash to them.

If every Pokémon has access to a mechanic it still doesn’t make every Pokémon equal. The shitmons are still going to stay shit, when there is no reason to ever use anything but the absolute best abusers of the mechanic available. Nobody is going to dyax their butterfree when they have access to gyarados.
