Champion themes stopped being good after Gen 4. Now they're all half assed, extremely safe garbage, which I guess is fitting considering the state of the series.

The problem is that Champion themes started being personal. Like you couldn't use Iris' theme for any other character because it fits her and was made for her, but you could use the Hoenn champion theme for both Steven and Wallace because it isn't Steven or Wallace's theme, just the Hoenn champion theme.
