I like the more monstrous approach as both a power fantasy and as a means to experience things that previously weren't possible. One problem I have with your standard human-to-anthro TF is that nothing really significant changes. They would still have to drive cars and get a job with the only difference being a little more hair and a snout and that's boring. It shouldn't necessarily be identity death but a distinct change that blurrs the lines between human and inhuman. Busting a nut during the transformation is a must.
I distinctly despise TF in a humiliation/unwilling aspect.
