Will we ever have animations as good as the 3DS games again? I miss when moves all had awesome and unique animations and not just little hops that just move the model up and down.

I hope modders find a way to put the 3DS move animations into Sword and Shield.

I swear the 3DS did the stupid double kick hop too. The thing that bothers me is that I was excited for cool animations for every move since they promised they would after cutting the dex. Sadly, I was just being a gullible retard again.

I'll say it once and I'll say it a thousand times: How the fuck is Gamefreak less competent with the animations than Genius Sonority was over a decade ago? I could let it fly for the 3DS because they were still new to 3D on a fairly limited system and there was a shitload of Pokemon but with SwSh I can't even give them the benefit of the doubt.

We all know SWSH has mediocre animations, that's just the status quo as far as these games go.

Up until now they always had the excuse of having several hundred+ Pokemon so people largely let it pass. They told us dexit was so they could focus on other aspects such as the animations and yet they're not any better than the 3DS era so people are understandably miffed. They culled their only excuse for not trying.

But they quite literally still have several hundred Pokemon, and the new effects for attacks do look significantly better than the ones in the 3DS games. Just compare the fires, explosions and etc. and it's clear alot of work went into most moves.

Reminder Battle Revolution reused the vast bulk of it's models from Stadium and Colloseum and featured some attack animations so simple that Golbat's Fly animation is literally it walking in place while floating

We are still comparing a 2006 game with a 2019 game from companies with profits way different
And even if they're errors of idle attack animations (there will always be), they got way more work done to them while gamefreak did THE SAME errors + a way more horrible job while lying and hiding lazyness behind quality over quantity

Attack animations have always been shit in the main games apart from a handful of ones that are exclusive to one Pokemon.
