>>41726163Before I do, I'd like to get your opinion on how relevant speedruns can be to this? Because if we're going for purely optimal, non-subjective things, then in that case speedruns would be the best example. If you'd rather consider all the content of the game, we start getting into subjective territory because each thing in a game can have different value, and that's a lot harder to objectively quantify. I'll post the facts, see what everybody can make of them. I'll be considering first version English glitchless any% speedruns, as those are the most basic examples I can give. In addition, I'll be listing number of listed runs as well, as if the game isn't fun to run then nobody will run it. You can check this on
speedrun.com if you feel like checking the facts, and you should.
>Red/Blue>Fastest: 1h 45m 21s>Total runs: 389>Gold/Silver>Fastest: 3h 13m 46s (note, timing ends at Red rather than the first credits)>Total runs: 77>Ruby/Sapphire>Fastest: 1h 57m 21s>Total runs: 35>Diamond/Pearl>Fastest: 3h 44m 03s>Total runs: 8>Black/White>Fastest: 3h 15m 49s>Total runs: 25I feel a bit unfair leaving Platinum out because holy shit only 8 people bothered to ever try to speedrun Diamond and/or Pearl.
>Platinum>Fastest: 3h 42m 32s>Total runs: 12Again, speedrunning is an entirely different way to play, but it's the most objective way to play, rather than subjective.
>>41726260I am, in fact, diagnosed with autism, if the rest of this post wasn't a good indication. And I played Platinum with a full team, still wasn't fun and was super easy. Furthermore, if the game lets me get away with that shit, how is it engaging or challenging in the first place? Pokemon is literally just Kirby but with less polish, but Diamond and Pearl don't even have the True Area. I have never once been challenged by the main Pokemon game, and the only time I have been was in the Battle Tower and the like where the AI can see the RNG and make the most optimal moves.
