so i just got my 8th badge. and aside from Sonia coming in to remind us she's in the game/talking about what she learned in history class, SwSh does not have a story.

This. For some retarded reason the actual plot starts at the fucking pokemon league. It would have been forgivable if the plot was engaging, but it's utter shit.

I enjoyed the game MORE before it tried to force in its cringe tier story. I'm perfectly fine with a comfy game purely about doing the gym challenge and becoming the champion.

People are saying we don't need a story, but fuck that. We don't need a world ending story involving legendaries. This plot would be so much more based if they focused exclusively on the sports theme. Make Rose a villain for rigging matches or some shit and give the characters actual arcs beyond Hop and Sonia. It would provide a much more grounded story that would stand out compared to the bullshit we've been getting since fucking Hoenn

The funny thing is that near the latter half of the game, that actually happened.
Either Leon or Sonia shush you away from dealing with any potential plot.
Example the part of the game where random Pokémon dynamax. You never get to fight them. Leon does it off screen.

Pokemon would be better if they just stopped adding "allies" entirely and let you be on your merry way like in Gens 1 - 4. Those games are adventures, not shitty C-movie plots. It's like the difference between Dragon Quest III and Final Fantasy XIII.
