The real answer is they count sales of both games as well as the 2 in 1 package as 1 whole sales number. Both games individually are dwarfed by other major selling Switch titles, yet only spot abnormal sales numbers because they're being sold as 2 individual games. Revenue is fine and dandy but the games also cost more to make than they were on the 3ds and Pokémon not breaking previous numbers while every other series on the switch did will absolutely be noticed by higher ups. Either way, Pokémon not topping software numbers on the switch when it did on every system it was on previously will undoubtedly be seen as underperformance by certain higher ups. No corporation likes their products the subject of controversy either and that combined with an underperformance will cause gamefreak to get whipped hard, which is still a possibility that I’m optimistic for.

You're delusional if you think ORAS is worse than SS. It's not good but it's fucking leagues ahead. For one, Hoenn is a way better region than Galar. There are several legendaries from all across the series to hunt for as opposed to SS's 2. There's a national pokedex, the visuals are appropriate enough for the system it's on, Mega Evolutions are better than dynashit and gigantashit. Even if the battle frontier was culled, at least ORAS's battle tower clone was had more than 2 modes and unique bosses. Like I said, ORAD isn't good, but holy fuck, to say it's worse than SS is just wrong.

The visuals are complete dogshit even compared to XY. The maps are ugly grids and the oversaturation looks horribly out of place with the actual Pokemon.

samus returns is hardly a system best but it’s still miles ahead of ORAS’s sloppy texture work, laughable overworld models, and untouched decade old map design. There’s no reason to play ORAS over emerald or even ruby and sapphire unless you really like zinnia, the primals or the phys/spec split that much.

That was exactly my point, GF were being beaten at making pretty games on the 3DS for fuck's sake. Why suddenly the obsession with the looks, when they were so willing to suck down the past efforts so readily, especially when there is clear progression from Gen VII to VIII. The lack of greater progression is endemic of their inexperience with this kind of graphical fidelity.

Not even on the 3DS.

DPP looks like shit compared to Minish Cap, a GBA game. BW is pretty weak too. They've always been a poor developer, people just didn't notice yet because it was easier to hide it with sprites.

I noticed this time around they really pushed these games a lot more than before. I saw interviews with Masuda, a rally of apologists defending the game, more constant marketing etc

It is surprising how many people bought the games knowing the cut and not caring. Makes you wonder what aspects of the game fucking appeal to these fans
