>>41728305Honestly not that bad of a lesson, "Follow your dreams" can be gigantic fucking trap if you fail to have the capability to run the entire path, the people who succeed have major confirmation bias, so you hear about the successes more then the failures.
A good life lesson would be "Aspire to be the best YOU", even if you fulfill your dreams you can aspire to more (avoiding "that's it?" depression), and even if your dreams are unreachable you can improve and find new ones.
Hop did get fucked over though, but i feel like the real issue is that he isn't really Professor material, he is more like Law Enforcement or Search and Rescue or something, basically a Ranger, unless the plan is to have him get blasted into the past and become Kukui or something, it basically feels really forced.
Basically, i can get behind Hop giving up on the Pro-Athlete route, the issue is the execution and choice of new one.
Honestly, they could have added in some part where you and Hop hear about Type:Null or something from a NPC so the Tower Raid was not only about getting Leon but also saving Type:Null and finding some way to get evidence to expose the bad staff, would make more sense to do a raid due that then LEON IS LATE FOR DINNER and had Hop get some realization he felt more satisfaction from saving the Pokémon then from winning League matches, setting a path for a new lifegoal.
