The wild area doesn't make up for the lack of dungeons and non-hallway routes.

Route 9 made me sad because it felt like it was from a better game, despite icebergs and bikinis being right next to each other

Sw/Sh was *this* god-damn close to making a decent villain if they changed the energy crisis from 1000 years to 10 to 20 years AND really emphasized how Rose gets overwhelmed/stressed easily when he discovers a problem. All that was needed was a few more lines of text but Gamefreak FUCKING RUINED IT.

This season of VGC is possibly the best one to date. Dynamax might be the ooga booga to break Smogon, but it's one of the more strategic elements of the official meta. Having to plan out what each mon in your party can do both in their normal form and Dynaform and capitalizing on those differences is a rewarding experience, not to mention shutting down your opponents' Dyna attempts through careful play.

Exactly. Imagine you are dicking around on a normal route, encounter any normal Pokémon and it suddenly dynamaxes but your Pokémon can't do the same. That would have given a much better sense of crisis. Maybe change some buildings in tohe towns to be destroyed and only restore them after beating the game. Could have been visual only.

Cons? Well what hasn't been said about the game already?
I don't own SWSH and I don't intend to pay 60 bucks for it either. It feels so incomplete that you can tell that they're making Ultra versions anyway. That said I think that some extra polish could really help save the generation. If you ask me it just needs to fix some of the shitty overworld animations, make exp share an option, and add more endgame facilities.

Everything else I agree with, gym leaders are top notch, even if they could have been integrated better into the plot or given a bit more of character other than their league cards. Routes should have been integrated into the Wild Area or done away with entirely and replaced by smaller wild areas.

It's a decent enough game but extremely lack luster for a game by a studio who earns such a large amount on money in current year, too many cut corners. Main thing i hated is how the story was just sort of implied briefly and then you get to the league matches and it all happens in 10 minutes theres no build up to any of it

are you a retard? its the same as every other "open world" game or area in a game. It's got nothing to do after being there for 10 minutes and playing with the gimmick in this case raids. Open world is just marketing wankery

SwSh is a fairly fixable game in that all it truly lacks is content, explorable areas, difficulty and better writing. At least in my opinion.
Gen 7's main issues weren't nearly as fixable, as one of the main issues was straight up just the design of the entire region. To really fix the hallway feel and the choking progression I feel as if it would've taken an entire reconstruction of the region rather than just adding stuff like SwSh's would.
This isn't to say that Gen 8 are better than Gen 7 though, as I personally believe they fail at pretty much every aspect other than the campaign. Which I honestly had more fun with than Gen 7's, simply because I was allowed to do what I wanted when I wanted more than in Gen 7, the problem was that there was very little to do.
Really, all of this is just to say that I think enhanced version could make these games genuinely good, at least if they did them right. Unfortunately Masuda, Ohmori, and Ishihara wouldn't let that happen in a million fucking years so Gen 8 will probably stay the gen that took away the most stuff for the least in return.
AKA the worst one.

It's neat to me because I believe overworld encounters are superior to random ones. By polish I mean they need to animate the pokemon spawning better (like fading in instead of popping out the ground) and adding more to do in each one as you said.
