Irreparable damage/harm is a legal term meaning "the type of harm which no monetary compensation can cure or put conditions back the way they were."

Basically they're saying since the leaks can't ever be taken back, the damage is irreparable and that's the legal defense they're using. Whether or not you agree with it, they have a pretty airtight case.

And that's the damage it caused. Releasing so little information WAS their marketing plan, due to complaints they got for revealing too much during previous games' marketing campaigns.

With ORAS and SM for example, they revealed so much that there was pretty much nothing for people to discover for themselves upon release. Which is why tried to keep things secret this time around.

And it doesn't help that a good chunk of the boycott crowd caved in. Reddit is probably the best way to see this in action. Look at how many "I played swsh and it sucks" threads there are and see the OP's positioning on dexit prior to release. 9 times out of 10 they swore they'd boycott.
