>>41744589Go is popular because it's just your quintessential mobile game with a Pokemon paintjob. Go is stripped down, for ease of play and accessibility, it's loaded with convenience microtransactions and cosmetics to buy, and its gameplay loop is virtually nonexistant but just attention grabbing enough to keep people playing. It's perfectly designed to be a brainless time and money sink. Do you even grasp the gravity of what it'd mean for Game Freak to try and target the full mobile demographic over just the kid portion of that statistic?
The fact of the matter is that Game Freak's focus is successful at what it's trying to accomplish, and despite how fucking hard /vp/ and parts of Reddit want to deny it, these games sold well enough and the overwhelmingly vast majority of people thought they were just ok. They won't reinvent the wheel, they won't even attempt to, and they'll only make a passing effort to try and reel in nostalgia players, their primary concern is making sure Pokemon stays relevant enough with its design and loop so that kids spend time playing these games rather than any of the countless other games resting in their app stores and eShops. And they'll likely succeed, and then people here will bitch and moan and the cycle continues because it's too hard to admit you're not the Little Timmy they're trying to appeal to anymore.
