>>41747267Things get a bit tricky with Hoenn. On one hand ORAS does have changes and updates that are cool to have. Things like the Physical/Special split, updated movesets, new evolutions, and day and night. And if we compare to just RS then ORAS has more content, since the only post-game content RS really had was just the Battle Tower and Sky Pillar. And while the story isn't exactly much better, the characters, especially Team Magma and Aqua, are lot more memorable with their updated designs (Wallace's is shit though). However there's some newer mechanics that it feels like they just didn't bother rebalancing anything for, like Megas or how EXP works, and so the games are noticeable easier unless you're going out of your way to restrict yourself. And the maps and artstyle is this blocky shit that's overly faithful to the original GBA maps. Contests are also arguably worse. Overall I'd say ORAS is better than plain RS.
But Emerald also exists, and it had a lot of redone enemy teams and new content that's all missing from ORAS. Literally the only thing from Emerald to make it in is that you can fight Wallace's Emerald team during Delta Episode. If we compare the two, Emerald has Gym Leader rematches, an extra Steven fight, the Battle Tower, and six other Battle facilities. ORAS has Delta Episode (a few easy fights with a shitty story in-between), Elite Four rematch, and a re-skinned Battle Tower. There's also fucking around with the Mirage Islands and Hidden Bases, but that's not really fun content, it's mostly just RNG busywork. Combined with Emerald having a better balanced main story and a complete plot with both teams and all legendaries, I would have to say: Emerald > ORAS > RS.
