I totally agree, and the more I analyze my biases, I agree even more. I grew up on Gen 1/2 and used to scoff at any notion that they were inferior, but then I asked myself "what if Voltorb was JUST introduced?" I'd think it's terrible. Of course, I still have rose-colored glasses, nostalgia, etc. and prefer the old ones, especially to this fucking awful design, but I realize they aren't all perfect.

I was more pointing out that it immediately went to calling out Gen 1 as if this thread was a veiled attack at new pokemon.

A lazy design, but palette swap/recolor designs (Plusle/Minun, the Lati@s and their Megas, the Gen 5 Monkeys, Incarnate Genies, Dusk Lycanroc, etc) are arguably worse just for being extra bloat to a roster.
