Are there any Pokemon you consistently misremember as being from one generation when they're really from another?

I thought for the longest time that Marill was one of the original 151.

I thought Magearna was part of gen 6.
The later mythicals hvae so little fanfare to them I forget they exist.

Red and Blue were my first video games ever. I was just a wee lad at the time so Gen 1 and 2 are both mixed up in one big batch of childhood memories.

i missed out on gold and silver as a kid (because i was retarded and always restarted barely a quarter of the way through) so i thought skarmory, lanturn, and slugma were from gen 3

God, Pikablu was the most epic thing of all time to me as a kid, literally. This new Pokemon that was a 'variant' of one of the most beloved popular Pokemon, but quite different looking... the rumors etc. like being able to get "Pikablu" in Gen 1 etc... it was just magical.

Marill and Togepi, and Ho-Oh among some other early revealed Gen 2 mons, will always be my favorite Pokemon because of that mystery.
Internet ruined everything :)

Slugma was only available on cycling road in gen 2 and Skarmory was only found on the route connecting Blackthorn to New Bark Town that the game tells you to use fly to skip anyway

Before Pokemon GO I would always confuse Skarmory, Xatu, and Macargo being from Gen 3. Mainly because Johto is so forgettable

There are a lot of mons I thought were from gen 3 that were really gen 2
Aipom, Slugma, Houndour, and Yanma specifically
never played GSC so that's probably the reason
