Mario Maker 2 got a free update with a lot of stuff today. Can't wait until the Pokemon Sword and Shield update with the remaining Pokemon... and the missing moves... and the shiny bug fix...

Hard blocks that activate when a P switch is triggered
Dash block. Block that boosts you to full momentum when you run on it (3D world exclusive)
Master sword (SMB1 exclusive)
Turns you into link
Let's you shoot arrows in 3 directions
You get access to a sword and shield (hah)
You can charge with your sword
You can do a ground pound with your sword
And you can drop bombs
Also there's a speedrun mode where you can race with other players' ghosts on official nintendo levels built for speedrunning

Spikes and spike balls are such a good course element. They're like a less annoying and much more versatile Hammer Bro. There are so many setups and combinations you can make since the spiky balls are affected by conveyor belts, swinging claws, trampolines, and seesaw platforms.
Large ones can break hard and ice blocks, both sizes can kill enemies, damage bosses and trigger on/off switches. Balls can even be placed in pipes, Bill Blasters and Lakitu. Speaking of, this is the best item to give to Lakitu because it will only allow one ball on-screen at a time (per source, minus the Spikes themselves which allow two) and that makes Lakitu a much less frustrating but still dangerous enemy to have around.

Not sure what Pokey is good for, but at least it's more content for desert levels.
