I still have them, sitting on my shelf. I have a lot of memories of playing with them as a kid. A few years ago I found them in the closet and cleaned them up.

i went to florida when i was two and got a kecleon keychain at wendys as gen 3 was brand new at the time. i remember this because the same day i saw a real reptile for the first time. also got a little pikachu clock but i don't remember getting it, both are still somewhere in the room with my right now but i'm too lazy to search for them, here's a picture of the keychain i found on google tho

I am pretty sure this magazine was my first experience with Pokémon. I remember my friend having a Nintendo Power and it was talking about reviving the fossils on Cinnabar Island, so the fossil Pokémon were some of the first ones I ever saw.
Either later that day or the next day when I was at home I saw the last 5 minutes or so of an episode of Pokémon and from that point I was hooked.
That also means I was 4-6 months behind the ball on Pokémon since the magazine came out in December and I didn't get the game right away.

Oh hey, I have pretty much all of these.

My first memories were from Nintendo Power talking about the games as my family already subbed to it, so then my brother and I got Red and Blue at some point soon after they released. Old ass pic, slightly related.

It's a great guide, though I think I remember some mistake about a Poke Ball or item description, I forget. It was pretty funny to read though. I also had the guide for the TCG game for GameBoy which gave me deck lists I could use in real life so that was nice.

I remember wanting to play Pokemon when I was younger but I but I don't think I ever asked for a copy until Platinum for some reason.
Despite this I had a whole 12 of whatever the fuck these were. The copyright year on them is 2003. No idea why someone bought me the cases for these.

Watching the show for the first in 4th grade, listening to my older brother tell me about the game. I got Red and my brother got Blue. I really wanted a Pikachu like in the show, so I remember waking up at 4am to play and searching until I found one in Viridian Forest. Loved the game, the anime, and the cards.

Came home from school (4th grade I believe) and was looking for something to watch. It was "Ash catches a pokemon" and I fell in love.

Technically my first memory was trying to tell my stepbrother about it from a very early nintendo power 3 paragraph article but I didn't know how to say the name so I tried to describe pikachu to him. Then forgot about it for a few months.

The games hit later that year (UK). Before I knew it I had Red & Blue, the entire school was playing the games and showing off their cards. We once had a "free-day" at school to do what we liked, so naturally everyone just played Pokemon, battling and trading with those shitty link cables. I was the only one with crazy shit like Alakazam and Mewtwo, so I cleaned house spamming high power moves. All this and going to see the first movie are still vivid memories.

Pokemania was fucking crazy.

I received one of the first wave of the Pokemon promotional videos from Nintendo, along with a mini-comic where red acquires Pikachu and explains what Pokemon was.

I was addicted from the very first time I saw it and I researched it probably four or five times that day.

So the family was eating while the news was talking about the Porygon incident in Japan, long before anyone in America had heard of Pokemon. Being a dumb middle schooler, my first instinct was to talk about how evil the show was or something. Before I could say anything, a random-ass thought popped into my head: "I probably shouldn't turn my parents against this show. What if it comes to America and I like it?" I very vividly remember that exact thought, because I reflected on it a moment later and realized how damn stupid it was. It ended up being the most right I've ever been in my life, but it was still a very stupid thing to think.

I was 3 when my older sister got her first console (Pikachu's edition game boy colour) with Pokemon Crystal. l remember watching her play that evening and asking why the pokemon did that weird sound (when they were at low health), and she answering me that it was because they were stupid
