We've gotten a Water/Flying type Pokemon 6/8 generations now and most of them are incredibly strong competitively, shilled, or appear everywhere.

Gyarados is borderline fucking broken
The Wingull line is literally everywhere in every region and gets Drizzle
Mantine got a baby pre-vo in Gen 4, a buff, gets its own minigames in Alola, and still somehow became abundant in Galar
The Swanna line is just kinda forgotten
Cramorant is going to be an anime favourite

Yup and before them it was the roserade line. It's kinda strange we've only had two grass/poison lines after gen 1 and it still feels like an absurdly common type combo. Bug/steel, psychic/flying, and electric/flying are as or more abundant than grass/poison in terms of individual lines. Maybe it's because 4/5 grass/poison types were full 3-stage evos.

We need more obscure type combinations. Heat Rotom is still the only electric fire (a type combination which makes sense, it could easily be an explosion/volatile pokemon).

And the majority of grass pokemon happened to be grass/poison, at least the ones worth using. The only grass types in gen 1 that weren't grass/poison were exeggcute's line, paras' line, and tangela.

Why does ice even exist anymore? It used to only be useful for beating dragons (its other strengths are easily covered by other common attacking types), and it sucks as a defensive type so it's risky to run with STAB. When using them ingame it feels like they're weak to literally everything, you can never pull them out and you're kinda forced to oneshot everything because you'll probably die if not.
