As for optional teams if you have a secure way of trading with yourself so you can see a starter team of other pokemon holding up to the playthrough you entirely can.

Took me 800 eggs for my first shiny sobble
Followed by 1800 eggs for shiny scorbunny
Then finally 2000 eggs for a shiny grookey.
Haven't gotten another shiny cause I've been gigantamax farming. Though I did waste 3 days farming for a pokemon that's not in shield. Gigantamax grimmsnarl
