We need to take into account the $20 price increase though. TPC will have their own internal projections, all the game needs to do is underperform, then there is a chance of a switch-up (still unlikely). You could argue demand for Pokemon is inelastic, which would mean that people are more likely to buy mainline games regardless of price increases. I do think not much will change though.

I believe the game will sell less than BW, mostly due to the negative reception of a large part of the player base but especially because a lot of non-fans just found the game to be lack luster and unchanged from previous titles.

Whether it's Ishihara with his 10 IQ predictions or Masuda with his narcissism and ambivalence towards the series since people shat on his 'magnum opus' there is very little chance this series ever becomes as good as it could be.
DP remakes might have a good region to work with but watch them successfully kill the enjoyment of the games and exclude things like underground, vs seeker and the frontier again.
This series is so fucking dead.
