Well, yeah. It's Smogon, no shit they're mongoloids. They banned Power Construct Zygarde because they couldn't be asked to carry Taunt or Haze like good players, and it somehow took priority over banning Pheromosa despite that having a significantly higher win and usage rate.

Dynamax greatest problem are Gyarados, Excadrill, Hawlucha, Togekiss, Drednaut and Barraskewda.

Not even Charizard with Hurricane Max Airstrike, Max Flare + Solar Power compare to those. Heavy boots nullify rocks entirely this time, so hazards are a non-issue.

Thats why you build a team that can handle that pressure then combine your smarts to outplay them and manipulate their choices. I've made well over 50 teams in OU figuring out team synergy while keeping taps on the most used mons. Everything has something to stop them but your team alone is not enough to pull it off. Sword/Shield is the meta I grew up with. I know previous games lack dynamax, but that's why they're unplayable. I feel bad that so many people played games without dynamax and I feel blessed I'm starting off the franchise on the right foot. From what I see, the games before sw/sh were incomplete. Rather than adding dynamax they first added too many poke'mon, then made incomplete mega-mons, then made incomplete z-moves. Sw/sh is the only complete game in the series with the correct amount of poke'mon, and wtihout half-baked megas, and wtih more z moves than ever. I know why everyone else is mad and it's because they started wtih the wrong games, all while waiting for sw/sh to drop.

Using it on a "shitmon" that just needed an HP increase is retarded. Shitmons aren't made slightly better with it. The only thing this does is make your team worse because you're going out of you're way to waste a powerful mechanic to make a Pokemon slightly less shit.

If I add plus 10 special attack to Wigglytuff it's also slightly less shit than it was before. Still an irrelevant shitmon so what's the fucking point?

So much this. Gen 8 has absolutely no differences between it and Gen 7. GF didn't remove half the pokemon along with several staple moves which doesn't already drastically change the scape of the gen itself. Unless you yourself play SwSh on a Switch (that you paid for) your pokemon experience is invalid. If GF decided to add in a "50% to win the game" button how can you even fathom playing pokemon unless you mash it the first turn of a battle?

Not about Gen 8 having its own identity, it's about actually playing the Gen 8 pokemon games. Itd be like if you banned switching from pokemon. Dynamaxing is a core mechanic of the gameplay. Not just a specific item or move or abillity but a core mechanic of the game. Itd be like banning switching. Or banning jumping in Street Fighter. You're not even playing the game anymore if you do that and showdown is supposed to be a simulator of the games not just make up a whole new game.

Gamefreak doesn't balance, they just make "cool shit" to make merch and sell it they don't give a rats ass about competitive, I can guarantee you can get a random /vp/ player, yes any random /vp/ player who spouts asinine bullshit and cannot break 1500 on showdown to challenge anyone at Gamefreak to a match in any format and the anon would win 100% with no contest.

It's more like they try to keep every playstyle viable but defensive playstyles need a multiple layered mech suit of life support since gen 4 or so. It's much easier to note and ban something for being overwhelmingly offensive than something for being overwhelmingly defensive.

How about a compromise.

Pokemon can only dynamax if they're a tier lower than the tier your playing in.

UU pokemon can dynamax in OU, etc.

Yeah, if a random UU mon is really good with dynamax, even if it's something random like Feraligatr, if enough people use it as a Dynamax mon in OU, then it becomes OU and then nobody gets to use it anywhere, since it can't be used in UU and nobody in OU will use it since it can't dynamax.

The only objective way to lock it would be either restricting it to pokemon that qualify for Eviolite, or pokemon that qualify for little cup, depending on how much you want to restrict it.

They literally don't know their own game so yeah. I've been pretty anti Dynamax since the whole thing was revealed, even predicted the Gyarados catastrophe, people kept telling me that it's "just 3 turns bro" but good players know just how big a single turn can be in this game.

Excadrill sets up sand for itself while launching of big attacks. Barraskewda is the same way but with rain. Gyarados and Hawlucha can boost speed with max airstream and have ways of boosting attack as well, so can easily build into a sweep. Togekiss can use Aistream for speed and then become even more annoying with Serene Grace.

Really, anything with access to the flying Max move or a weather ability has the potential to become a big threat as they boost speed and set up while also launching off moves with such large base power. The problem with banning just those few would be that new abusers would become apparent, even if they were less crazy strong

I don't think I've ever met a good Pokemon player on /vp/, be it vgc or smogon. Not even trying to be a dick but every competitive thread is 90% people asking "what ability should I breed on this Pokemon that has 2 garbage abilities and one good one??" I know 4chan in general is bad at games but it's extremely obvious and worse in this case and I don't get why.
