Why do people act like gen 6 was somehow unfinished? Gen 7 I get since there was a golf court cut, but with gen 6 all I could think of is event Floette, which is an event thing anyway

Because it fucking was. Aside from Zygarde STILL being irrelevant and getting fucking nothing three gens in a row, there's a lot of shit in XY that feels incomplete or missing.

This. I'm not the biggest fan of bw1, but I never at any point felt like unova wasn't fleshed out. I can't say the same for kalos, galar, and some parts of alola. Shit, its probably the most fleshed out region we have to date.

The plot didn't make sense and seemed really rushed and thrown together. Sun and Moon were also unfinished but the plot made sense regardless of if you enjoy Lillie being the real protagonist/interrupting you constantly. USUM butchered it entirely.

Gen 6 is actually the most infinished game in the franchise.
Everything is good until Gym4, and then, it's just road, gym, road, gym etc... And suddenly, the Team Flare want to destroy the world, 2 different bad guy HQ.....
And the scenario ends before the 8th gym.

The characters were hollow, the region had lots of empty space, the plot was just gen 3/4's copy + paste, the champion was nonexistent, the mythicals had minimal backstory, there were no additional legends besides the main trio (I don't want a gen 5 amount of legendaries, but a gen 2 or 3 amount would have been great), and zygarde had no relevance. That's just off the top of my head, I'm positive I'm forgetting a lot of shit.

I think GF set the bar low for what they wanted in the game because of the whole 3d transition. Unfinished implies they had plans late in development they had to scrap, and there's hardly any evidence of that

The gen 8 plot made me sad man. There was literally NO plot up until the league, and at that point I actually felt good about playing a comfy sports-style rpg. Then at the league rose decided to go insane out of nowhere and was never heard from again. Also why was hop so worried about leon's meeting with rose before dinner? There was no indication that leon was in trouble, just that he was late because of a meeting.

Giratina was created in the first place because they already had Platinum planned, hence why Giratina's alternate form and Rotom and Shaymin's forms were already coded into DP.

There was clearly a follow-up planned at some point, otherwise Zygarde and its alternate forms are entirely pointless.

Um... no? Unfinished can also mean not fully fleshed out to its potential or that there are unexplained plot elements. Unfinished literally doesn't mean one thing and one thing only.

Zygarde was a pretty unexplained/underexplained plot element. The power plant was an unused large location. Malva's involvement with team flare was unexplained. The rivals turn into blank NPCs in the postgame. AZ came out of nowhere and disappeared into nowhere. And like I said this is just off the top of my head. I'm sure there's a lot I'm forgetting because kalos in the games was just completely forgettable as a whole.

Wrong. The bad guy is very present in the game, you just don't know it's the bad guy yet.
And the legendary plot is presented very early too, and come back regularly.
In XY though, the bad guy is seen once and disappears until the end.
The team actions make no sense.
And the legendary pokemon is just thrown at you at the end. And you never heard about it before.
