Because it was just recently found out and honestly who gives a shit.
It's more time efficient to just hatch a batch and check their stats there and then.

I don't know man, I may be playing devil's advocate but considering the shitton of facilities this game added for breeding/training I think this is intentional, like being able to use a Rare Candy on a Lv.100 mon in order to evolve it

Why would it be a glitch? It shows the stats because it's the same screen that shows moves, and it shows moves because you are teaching it a move, they just made you able to teach TMs to eggs and check their stats at same time.
I mean, the base code of every single game before is made in a way you can't teach a TM to an egg, this change is something they made on purpose

Alright, so it seems you can only get it to work if you buffer the input for it. Basically hit A when trying to teach the move to a Pokemon a one spot on top of the egg and quickly move down. It's a bug.

Considering how retarded can they be I wouldn't be surprised if they just forgot/didn't want to let you do it "on your own". Just think about it, why would they change the code in a way that lets you use TMs on eggs? It's Lazy Freak, they would just reuse the same lines of the code from the previous games, not make a new one and make a mistake
Hell I wouldn't even be surprised if you can use TMs but no tutors with the eggs, Game Freak would probably say "um no TMs are okay but a tutor won't accept and teach this to an egg because"

It is sad, the oldest NipponJank glitch in the book. The buffer in menu glitch.
It's basically the same concept as the infinite Boss Souls glitch in Dark Souls 1 remaster.

How useful is this? You can't check IVs with it. I suppose you can check for egg moves and abilities, but you have to hatch the bad eggs anyway to get them out of your boxes.

Stop using CentroStealmon and use Pokexperto. He explained you can only use the trick if the pokemon (inside the egg) is compatible with the TM, in fact, the one in the top doesn't have to be compatible at all. Like, you can put a Charizard on top and a Lapras egg down, you can use the TM Surf and cheat Lapras surf before it hatches, Charizard being unable to learn Surf is irrelevant, however the same trick won't work with Flamethrower because Charizard can learn it but Lapras can't

You can effectively trade any pokemon that can come from an egg through this well everything except event and legendary pokemon, they have the code for it it's just not possible tho
