I think they pushed the article out fast because they saw what people thought was the shiny hunt method and they wanted to correct it. They do mention getting shiny charm to help your chances they just don’t say it’s 2 extra rolls outright

So is there a way to mass release with multiselect? My boxes are full and 11 of them are trapinches I need to ditch to make room for more eggs. Releasing them one at a time is unironically more mind-numbingly tedious than doing donuts in front of the daycare.

Does anyone know if secret ID or seeds or whatever are a thing? I ask because I have 4 shinies in shield so far, all MM, all in less than 150 eggs. Mimikyu was 92 eggs. The longest was dreepy at 123 eggs.
I seriously think I have a secret ID or something that’s altering my chances. I don’t know anything about rng manipulation or secret I’d or anything past a YouTube video on the topic. I don’t even have a shiny charm. I have trouble believing I’m that lucky. And I’m not upset by it just really confused

What's your Trainer ID? As far as I'm aware, having a bunch of 0's, low or repeating numbers, or pyramiding numbers used to be a good thing.
I am thinking my trainer ID is unlucky because I don't have any of those things, and so far this is the longest hunt I've ever done with an MM. I kept stats on my XY hunts, and I would average about 370 eggs for a shiny each, and my trainer ID was quite low.

Data mining would bypass the entire process of analyzing the distribution, as you would see what the actual odds are in the code. They did dataminers the odds but they got it wrong the first time because no one expected chaining for aura mons and thought it was for shinies. Since then the Pokémon website put out an article stating the odds are 6 times normal odds, so we now know it's the same a s Masuda.

While it does boost your odds slightly, its negligible since I found my luck with and without it in previous games to be about the same. But if you're one of those people who want to maximize your chances, go for it. I've just been holding off on it due to laziness and the eventuality that I may need to trade my Zacien for Zamazenta just to complete the dex, and running the risk of the person running off with the better doggo.

Got a Mimikyu the other day at around 90 eggs, no charm. I was MMing then pulled the foreign out just to get my 5IV then ended up getting it without Masuda. Wondering how lucky I am cause my other shiny (Zigzagoon) I just random encounter farmed on route 3 when I started the game and that also took me ~90 encounters

Get a harvest 'mon with skill swap and trick, a false swiper and Solgaleo if you can. Its ability prevents accuracy drops from sand attack. Skill swap harvest to Eevee, trick a leppa on it, swipe it and switch to Sol and adrenaline orb it. I used Facade, thunder wave and focus blast for anticipation lols. As long as you have leppas, you'll be able to keep killing eevee till shinyboi pops up (I've caught 5 and seen 6 in total this way).

I go with the wild area spot, 5 eggs in synch with eath other, with camera facing the nursery do a biggg oval starting just a bit from the grass on the right, weaving inbetween the fence and the watt trader turning before you get to the tree ( this despawns and repawns the pokemon in the grass on the right so they won't move out towards you) and then look for new egg as you restart the loop; Hope that helps! (also the camera angle doesn't matter, that was just to give you a frame of reference, also this is just my way no idea if it's the fastest)

Can someone confirm really quick that you can encounter a shiny fossil mon by reviving it once and then resetting that same fossil? Ive been looking up a few videos and alot of them seem to revive multiple fossils at at time. Im 1000+ SR's in doing it with just one fossil and now im paranoid that it wont work this way

None of the fossils are version exclusive, two of them will just be much rarer depending on the game. If you dump a few 10s of thousands of watts into the skilled digger you'll come out with more than you need for efficient SRing.
Or you could trade for them in wifi general, you'll always find a few people there with a surplus they're willing to unload.

The fossils more rare to your version are pretty damn hard to come by. I have Sword, used 150k watts with the left Digger and ended up with only 12 Drakes and Fish each and ~65 Birds and Dinos each.

If anyone cares, I was trying to see if left digger would give wishing stones at a comparable rate to just buying them outright, and not surprisingly he doesn't seem to. I usually get 10-12 from 45k watts, vs 15 from buying them directly, although once I got lucky and he matched the rate. I personally have found that all the fossils, bottle caps, and vendor trash more than make up for the discrepancy.

there is no chaining in the game, kill or catch 500 of that specific pokemon and that gives you the highest shiny chance, if you need to check your number go to the dex and look at the "times encountered number" if that's below 500 keep taking them out

and to reiterate, there is no chaining

Been thinking about starting a shiny living dex. Would using cute charm in the gen 4 games to get a good head start be fair? The game is giving me the shinies of its own choosing after all and they'd technically all be legal.

I'd start with platinum then continue with SS and trade my platinum mons over, then do B/B2 and transfer over all my mons from SS, then move on to X and OR and once I've got that I'd trade all my shinies from bank, X/OR and sun to ultra sun and finish up the rest. The only reason to transfer over non shinies from previous gens is if they're not available in SM/USUM so I have something to breed with.

ahhh i think you might have the shiny odds from old games, the base rate in SwSh is 1/4098 approx so with the charm it's actually around 1/1365
