Why isn't the anime doing their usual thing by going to the Galar region for ~3 years?
Did the anime producers realize SwSh doesn't have enough content to pad out an entire series?

They were able to pad out Alola for 3 years (albeit by barely following the actual plot of the game). Lack of content also didn't stop Johto from being filled with a ton of filler. The anime can always make shit up to pad things out.

It has more to do with the direction TPC wants to take the franchise in.

They can just do an SM and have some Pancake races and Detective Rotom snoozefests and then put all efforts into the league and have the retards praise it as the best season when in reality they've only watched like 10 episodes of it

I was under the impression this was the PGO/LGPE adaptation, with all the vanilla setting and exploring shit.

It really seems the Climax and ending is all ppl care about. Who cares about the fact that Ash didn't have any sense of urgency to complete his trials. Who cares about the fact the League hardly had any buildup to it. Who cares that Ash first League win was in a Region where he didn't even planned on winning a League.
