Honestly no.
Gen 1 has way better bugs. And is full of the other kind of bugs too.
Gen 2 has way better bugs.
Gen 5 has way way way better bugs.
And Gen 7 has better bugs + the not-Bug but Bug themed Lurantis.
Snom is cute, Frosmoth is cool, Centiskorch is great and Orbeetle saved his line from being total shit, but in comparison this one of the weaker Gens for bugs.
Not Gen 3, 4 or 6 weak, but still.

Hell even Gen 3 gave us something interesting with Shedinja and the first Bug Fossilmon.

It’s both. When it’s too much detail, it usually refers to shit like loads of ugly strips and colors and 50 million spikes. Sinnoh and the megas struggled with this problem.

When it’s too little detail it’s shit like extremely basic toylike anatomy, no detailing with stuff like feathers or fur, and so on. Gen 7 and 8 have this issue.

They look like silk moth wings. Which is fitting since that's exactly what it's supposed to be. My problem with its design is the eyes, the accents just completely derail them for me and don't look that great on the 3D model.

This is my first post on this thread
I liked a lot of Gen VII pokémon, and there's a few in VIII that I like too. I'm not a genwunner, Gen I is far from my favorite, and I think a lot of its designs are very flawed, though I think it's excusable because it was the first game in the series.
But there's clearly something more toy-like about Gen 7 and specially Gen 8 mons, even in some of their designs that I like. Frosmoth here is an exception, but can you really not see what people mean when they say that? Even people who like the games admit it.
Saying "overdetailed" or "underdetailed" is wrong because there are examples of both types in all gens; no matter how detailed they are, though, in Gen 8 they look like a plastic toy
