You will not enjoy it the same way & I do recommend saving your money.
As I played SWSH, I did not enjoy myself at all & immediately felt like an idiot for hoping it would be good.
It made me incredibly nostalgic for the older games.
God, there was so many moments where I'd stare at the screen thinking to myself "This is... This is not what this should be like".
The story is UTTER FUCKING GARBAGE (the "Champion" Leon cockblocks any pertinent detail of the story because 1. You're a kid 2. You ought to go back to Gym challenge. The Post-game is non-existent.................I have no words. Also why isn't Marnie my rival? Why does Hop exist? I hate the faggot & his brother so much.
Side note - you'll need Online access to do Max raids because the A.I. you are given is crap and you LOSE because of them. Or to trade/battle. This was to be expected but if you don't already have NSO (like me) you won't enjoy the game once you are done the campaign.
Side note 2 - It's not even pretty to look at (Battles are good looking but only because we jumped from 3DS to Switch graphics).
I was part of the /VP/ folks that pre-launch would go around saying "It won't be that bad", I was so very wrong.
