End of the day? Yeah sure, he has made great contributions to end this franchise.
But in truth, i really like Phantump line and Golurk,but just that. His other sucessful designs are unworldly creatures that aren't even actual pokémon. This makes me reek the feeling that the best designs need the cultural jap touch.

His designs are very polarizing, i would say most people like half and hate half, but the pokemon that fall into either category is different for each person. Golurk is 100% in my top 6, while Guzzlord seems way overdesigned, even for an Ultra Beast.

At this point I feel that you can't genuinely hate on him. The art direction is pretty much the only good thing from this generation. Sure, some Pokémon designs are questionnable (I see you Eiscue), but the character designs are the best we've ever had.

Wait he made Gossifleur? I love the way Eldegoss, but just hate Gossifleur. It reminds me of Cherrim/Cherubi, it looks so basic.
