How come these are the first games without legendaries outside the box legends and eternatus? Did they get lazy? How do you go from a million each gen to the bare minimum?

It's possible to add in more pokemon through patches so I wouldn't be surprised if they purposely left out the mythicals until they release them, they definitely know people go through the games data.

These guys weren't in the games for the entire first year. X/Y only had box legends for a very long time. Adding a mythical distribution months after everyone stopped playing the game hardly counts. Gen 6 was lazy as shit.

Mythicals are a subset of legendaries, specifically those which, among other things, can only be obtained through events (deoxys can be caught in ORAS, so it's kind of in a gray area). Until I believe Gen 5 or so they weren't differentiated from other legendaries.
