As far as shillmons, the only actual shillmons in game are Pikachu, Zard, Lucario, and Mewtwo, and those are all legitmately popular too at this point. Other pokemon like Gardevoir, Garchomp, Gengar, Blaziken, etc; likewise, are just actually popular.
You act as if the entire roster is nothing but the most popular pokemon, but there's a fair amount of more niche choices: Weavile, Machamp, Scizor, Chandelure, Aegislash, Empoleon, Croagunk, etc. There's also the issue that if a pokemon is popular, then that's what people fucking want.
>>41817556>As for the gameplay, commitment to a certain playstyle is more fun. Phase Shift ruins the whole game and makes it too neutral heavy. It's impossible to have fun doing big combos you can find on, again, Tekken.Have you actually watched any high level play of the game? Most good combos most players do at mid and high level play do 1/3 to 1/2 of the other player's health bar, and while they aren't marvel-tier long, and perhaps not as long as tekken, many have 10-18 hits or so.
Yes, Pokken is really designed more around rewarding fundamentals, neteutral, tc; not having big hype combos or moments, but that's not a bad thing; that just means it's not what you want out of a fighting game.
Personally, I find fighting games for almost exclusively for neutral play; so I love it.
>>41817787>40 character rosterThere's no way that can happen without character balance taking a hit, and the fact that even the characters on the low end of low tier are viable at high level play is one of the best things going for it
I wouldn't want more then another 10-12 characters max
>>41820786It's not any more RPS then other fighting games, they all have a block-grab-attack trifecta, all Pokken does is make it so you tech grabs with attacks rather then other grabs, and also adds SFIV focus attacks, which makes it even less RPS, and also has moves with dual properties which can both tech grabs but pierce focus attacks; see pic
