Mawile so very clearly was designed originally as a Dark Type. Either they took away Dark to remove its 4x Fighting weakness or they forced mono Steel onto it because they realized they needed more pure Steel Types in Gen III.

Yeah if they had to go out of their way to invent an excuse for why its Steel Type, then it obviously wasn't originally a Steel Type.

Seviper and Zangoose should clearly have either Dark of Fighting as secondary Types.

Why does it need to be Dark? The yokai it's based on isn't even evil, just a nuisance. It being a Steel Type makes its horns much cooler.

It has an extremely aggressive nature and has a "scar" over one of its eyes, and giant claws. It could easily be part Fighting or part Dark.

Yeah should've been our first Dark/Fairy. Sableye too, maybe. It has no reason to be a Ghost. Or Dark/Rock if anything.

I'm convinced that the only reason he's Water/Flying and not Water/Dragon is because Dragon was overpowered as fuck in Gen 1 and they didn't want to put too many of them in the game.
