Basic Nazi imagery, right?
Even Steven's mother who was setup as this great rebellion hero was secretly one of the diamonds and a massive bitch who only started the rebellion because she was bitter that she wasn't taken seriously, only to get bored with it and fake her death.
But the main character, Steven, ends the conflict via redeeming them(they had to retcon the diamonds personalities and motivations multiple times) because they're his family and they pretty much get away with everything because Rebecca Sugar wanted to write a story with a redemption arc.
TLDR; a Jewish writer writes a story about a guy saying Hitler did nothing wrong because he's his uncle
