Do you like overworld pokemon? Would you be upset if they got rid of it to go back to random encounters instead of dodging things if you want with no need for repels?

I prefer overworld because of the freedom it gives to have a more organic world

Like you can show pokemon with rivalries fighting or have large pokemon sleeping on the field and if you engage in combat they're level 70 or so
Or have small pokemon like larvitar lure you to a cave and then get trapped by a high-level tyranitar

I would pass Overworked if they went back to 2d (being 2d improved a lot of the aspects of the game)

Overworld encounters should be a standard in this day and time, even Zelda 2 managed it and that's not even a real RPG in the sense. I'm not convinced SwSh did it well but it's a step in the right direction.

It also very obvious that Gamefreak can't design a map or challenges for shit in 3d. The incompetence is so big that they can't even use good poses and models for the Pokemon.

I like how much personality it gives each pokemon by how they react to you in the overworld. That being said, it would be a lot better if overworld spawns weren't mostly limited to tall grass still and they reacted more organically with the world and one-another.

We literally just went from Let's Go's mostly interaction-less overworld monsters to shit like "some run away from you, some are interested in you, some wanna fuck you up, some are springing their trap underground to try to attack you, some swim around routes, some try to block your path" and so on. Factualy just had an improvement. Your weird anger at the developer does not change that very real fact.

GF always slowly transitions things out so autists like you don't get upset at drastic changes.

Like how XY still had grid based movement and chibi OW models and then they moved to full 360 movement and regular trainer models by Sun and Moon.

Of course they're an obvious great improvement but all they did was taking the animations Creatures inc. gave them since SM and slapped them on their lazy maps with very basic AI
No matter how good something ends up being with GameFreak chances are most developers would've done it better

i really like the overworld pokemon and i feel like the wild area/overworld encounters are a fantastic step for them to take. my biggest problem with the wild area in SW/SH though is that it feels extremely artificial. i know many of the spawns are weather-based but a lot of other pokemon have no rhyme or reason for why they're in certain areas, they're just dumped there. they just walk around aimlessly looking stupid

i want to see more actual realistic pokemon ecology and behaviour with the wild area/overworld encounters
