But even aside from my subjective opinion, at least back then the core formula was still intact and generally new Pokemon games would almost always end up with more features, Pokemon and content than their predecessors.
BW2 and HGSS were content kings.
Now we have almost as little content as we did with the original RS games, worse online functions than during DPP and yet the game still looks like shit AND costs 50% more than before.
