I really don’t like how they’ve gone from portraying it as something bad enough to be a Team Rocket plot to just everybday cuisine. The fact that it’s the case in a region where they can’t even be found makes it more upsetting to me. Makes it seem like they are the local population into extinction.

Probably thinking about it too hard but the Slowpoke line is one of my absolute favorites and I’m still a bit bitter about them getting the axe.

maybe slowpoke tails naturally fall off sometimes and it was the fact that team rocket was forcibly removing them that's the problem

One of those mines is specifically stated to be home to lots of water Pokemon. That's why Kabu trains there. They easily could have lived there.

Pretty sure Slowpoke fish with their tails so they kinda need them to survive. Kinda like how poachers kill certain animals for their parts, even if the parts can grow back they probably need them to survive.

For Pokedex entries, they were only added in Sun and Moon. For the original info, it's been around since Gen 2. The reason why you had to chase after Team Rocket was because they captured all of the Slowpoke living in town and gathered them up to forcefully remove the tails as often as possible. It's also why the slowpoke tail was so expensive in those games because the seller was connected to Team Rocket.

I don't think so. Team Rocket were just desperate for cash and started stealing slowpokes to take their tails for profit. It's like if a town worshipped cows and then a gang started stealing their cows and taking their meat for profit.
It's not like eating cow meat is bad, just that they're being stolen
