It's still too slow and frail on the physical side, along with having two quad weaknesses to very common offensive types. It won't outrun most scarf users after a QD boost, and there are a handful that still outrun it without using a scarf. It also has nothing to hit steel-types.

That was from the original leaks when people were trying to guess BST from the leaker's screenshots. People got the rest of its stats mostly right but its speed was much, much lower than anyone realized. It's not 100, it's 65.

People speculated it could possibly have stats equivalent to volcarona based on the the leaker's image. It was wishful thinking but technically possible. Still disappointing when frostmoth ended up with only 475 bst compared to volcarona's 550.

Those are Vocarona's stats. They were used early in comparison before stat spreads were datamined, just about everyone was hoping Frosmoth would be an identical (or at least close) counterpart to Volcarona.

Also worse moveset. Fire/bug is good asides from 4x rock.
With moveset it has,

-Frosmoth can't hit Pex for SE at all (no psychic). Coverage is ice, fairy, flying and bug soa lto of holes in that.
-No Freeze-Dry
-no Roost
-no water move so it can use max water to set rain and hurricane after dyna turns are done.
-so slow that it struggles to outspeed stuff at Timid +1 speed after quiver dance.
-weak to Steel.

They wanted it to fail.

Frostmoth is a defensive tank, his bare SpDef is basically 180 since his HA cuts special damage by half. And then it's 270 after a quiver dance.
I get that stats boost doesn't work like that but you get the idea.

Frostmoth is a massive sp defensive tank. And after two quiver dances it will outspeed everything

And it can't really tank neutral hits well. Tangrowth is pure grass but it has 3 ways to regenerate health and the stats to tank what you want it to tank as well as A-Vest being an option.

Someone at GF really has a hate boner for a specific kind of ice type. Look at Articuno. Alolatales managed to barely get under the radar and ended up sort of usable

Only works if you lead, though. If you're switching Frosmoth in, it will get one turn to QD before your opponent sends something out to counter it (which will be easy for a scarf user with more than 66 speed.)
