Pex is too passive and Ferro's main gimmick are hazards which are less common now due to the timbs, Rapid Spin buffs, there still being a number of Defog users and Excadrill being on every other team. Once Home is out and everyone who lost Defog has it again, I can see Ferro, and to a lesser extent, Pex, dropping in usage a bit as hazards will be less important due to all the removal.
The issue is that if Dynamax gets banned on showdown, they'll become super cancer.
