I'd rewrite her to be a lazy apathetic Professor who is revealed to be a villain at the end trying to use Eternatus's power for her own purposes while Rose is either on-board with the idea and supports her (But it's her idea, not his) or realizes it's batshit and helps you. Sonia/Magnolia can be the 'real' professor later.

I was surprised she wasn't the main bad guy keeping Rose busy in order to pull off what ever she had planned. Instead it was Rose going full retard for no reason. Seriously, why 1000? It makes no sense. Does GF have no sense of time? ...Actually, that does explain a lot.

Wouldn't make the story better but would make the characters more memorable and make the plot a bit more fun to run through.

Kinda feels like she originally was but they felt it was too similar and soon from Lusamine. You could easily combine her and Rose into 1 character and nothing really changes.
