>>41842628>>41842781Popping dynamax is more thoughtful than popping mega evolution. You almost never bring out your mega-enabled mon and don't evolve them, and you should never have two mega stones on your team. It's just an objectively bad decision. Dynamax is more freeform and complex because it can happen any turn, and it's "wasted" if you switch or don't accomplish what you need in three turns. That said, I think dynamax is way too good and I don't enjoy using it or playing against it.
The actual chad mechanic is the z-crystal. the attacks can have a huge impact, but only for the one turn, and there's a lot of excellent z-status moves, but then you're giving up the attack. It rarely gets used to its full potential because there just aren't enough mons that run z-crystal + STAB move + status move of the same type. When you do have that situation, though, it puts a ton of weight on both players decision-making/ reads.
Hopefully gen 9 introduces a non-shit variant of dynamax and we can use that from now on. Maybe the transformation adds a passive buff, but ends when you perform an attacking move?
