I'm about to play this for the first time. I wanna know why this game is considered GOAT.

Should I pick Riolu or Chimchar? Also, does SOS and Wondermail still work?

Takes the story from Time/Darkness and vastly improves it by adding more content and tying lose ends. Pick whoever you want, Electric moves work on ground types, and Normal moves work on ghosts.

It has more content, one of the reasons why people like it over Time/Darkness is the special episodes. If you pick an Electric-type like Pikachu or Shinx it might make the game a bit too easy.
Wonder Mail S still works, but you can just find a generator. No idea about SOS.

WARNING:

Mystery Dungeon exploring is a bit slow. There's no way to speed up / skip animations, and holy fuck do enemy Pokemon like to spam Mud/Water Sport/Leer/etc.

It is VERY frequent. But otherwise it's a great game.

Just started playing Explorers of Sky a week ago, never played it, picked Eevee I want to fuck a Glaceon and this fucker is driving me insane, why did they had to make Eevee such a fag? She keeps running and getting killed.

Just know that even though this game is considered godlike among the Pokémon community, it is still a very divisive game overall due to the nature of the mystery dungeon games. There is a good chance you may not end up liking it

I think the worst thing about Time/Darkness/Sky is that the separate version thing is completely unjustified. At least Red/Blue had the reason of being on separate systems, but these games really did the two versions thing for no reason and the third version thing along with it. Sky is the best game in the series, but dividing the game up into three versions is pretty damn skeevy for a spin-off

I'd say no. The only real additions to the game are the new playable mons (which are almost all worthless) and the bonus chapters where you play with separate characters in separate stories. If that interests you, then go ahead, but the base game is near identical
