Spongebob's death dulled these types of pains as a child. Though Pokemon's hurts a lot, so too does the DS line dying, and since the Wii U flopped dual screen gaming (and series that used it significantly like Kirby Canvus Curse, Etrian Odyssey, and so on) are fucking dead now.

This been the case even before XY. Pokémon is barely a mediocre RPG. Anime has always been shit. The TGC is meh, I’d rather play Yu Gi Oh or some other shit. This thing was set to be nothing but a shitty merchandising machine post Gen 3.

There are changes for Pokemon we know aren't going anywhere. It's a huge difference from even just a couple of gens ago where the groundwork was there but the execution was off and there was. how to say, room for improvement.

The creatures are at the very core of what this franchise is, and their willingness to compromise that one all-important aspect shows that it'll never get better. Because when you take away from the very bread and butter of the franchise, how can you be trusted to put love and care into anything else?

I think change is subject to eventually happen due to the PR meltdown that happened with swsh, you even with good sales, I don't think nintendo wants angry fans
They own 33% of the brand, so they have lots of say in the development of the games

When you’re a kid though you don’t care as much and you’re willing to except flaws as long as you enjoy it or it’s marketed hard enough.

Guarantee their kids today that 10 years from now will say sword and shield was the best Pokémon. I know this because their kids today saying black and white was the best Pokémon. And I’m sitting here saying gold and silver were the best Pokémon. And there’s some Boomer somewhere saying all Pokémon is trash and we need to play some other franchise from years before.

Hate to be redundant, but It won't.

Cant speak much for the other two, but when regarding Pokemon, what I can say is the only reason it's reached this point is because it doesn't have even the surface level to cover up its mediocrity. What I mean by that is Game Freak, Nintendo, and gaming at large is pretty much going through these sorta prioritization pains, and have been for years.

Far as I'm concerned, SWSH isn't much further behind stuff like Odyssey or Ultimate. Which might sound harsh, but the thing is SWSH isn't the unplayable mess everyone here thinks it is. It's just really really half baked and no where near close warranting its price point. And why it gets harped on so much in comparison is that the other games are able to shield themselves through polish and presentation. But if you look into it any deeper none of these games aren't innovating themselves any more then we want pokemon too.

Odyssey contextualized itself in a cute way with the world tour gimmick, but the platforming and movement isn't any better then either Galaxy, and comes nowhere close to 64 or Sunshine despite those games flaws. And Smash is in a golden position where all it ever has to do is keep adding more and more to please its audience. Only major Nintendo IP to even feel like its pushing itself is Zelda with BotW. And all that had to do was take on a more open world approach and succeed at it competently. The oncoming direct sequel tells me they have no intention of getting an acclaimed hit like that and not milking it. Just liked they milked OOT iconography for so long.

Don't mean to harp so hard on Nintendo specifically, its just the most recent experiences I've had personally. Point is, this isn't a Pokemon, Star Wars, or Anime specific problem. This is how business works. Make it pretty and polished, and feel/look good enough, and that's all it takes to make money. And if that's all it takes what ever needs to be changed?

removing dungeons and actual level design was the opposite of "pushing itself." making a generic open-world sandbox to fit in with the rest of the aaa industry was the easy way out for zelda.

Fact of the matter is, you've grown outside the demographic these mediums of entertainment cater to.

You're simply upset becasue things aren't the way they use to be when you were growing up, and if they WERE still the same, you'd be complaining that, well, everything is still the same.

You're probably suffering from a bit of burn out and you simply need to take a break.

I know that is how you feel because its exactly how I feel.

You just have to find some other means of entertainment to occupy your time, because its only going to get worse from here on out.

The most positive criticism I can have for Sw/Sh is that it feels like an upscaled handheld game. It could have been so much more but it managed to do practically everything mediocre.

Its an average game (which is why normies are slurping it up like candy) but its a bad pokemon game. Easily a contender for worst in the series.
