I've yet to play this but I'm a big genwunner - how bad is it? Worse than SwSh? At a glance, then lack of wild battles seems like a dealbreaker.

If you have a friend who has the game you need to create the save file and then go to SWSH and pick up the 6 iv Gmax Pikachu. That is actually the best use for this game.

It's not an actual Pokémon game, but I'm a big KANTOOO fag do I enjoyed it. It's short, there are no real challenges and it's not a Pokémon game experience, but sort of like a HD simulator, but has missing features. I think it's worth the money if you're a Kanto fag. Otherwise, it seems like switch Pokémon games are made for those around 5 years.

I love kanto and ejoyed the game actually, but felt a strong feel of betrayal the whole run.

The lack of wild battles and so the mandatory exp.share are frustrating.

Also the menus are atrocious.

Other than that is fine tho. Unexpectedly full of soul.

Here's an honest perspective from someone who has the nostalgia goggles for kantoooooooooo

The lack of wild battles sucks immensely, it's a massive problem with the game. Another is the difficulty, the game feels so fucking easy, you can just spam candies on your team and inflate their power like crazy.

Those are the only issues however, the game is gorgeous, it has some pretty decent contained lore, overworld spawns are the best, Pokemon follow and riding make you feel like a kid again. The music is fully remastered with arguably the best version of the blue champion theme.

Even the motion control catching is actually a fun feature, it would be better if you had to wild battle and then throw the ball though.

Played it with a little cousin, since we never grinded there was a bit of challenge in some battles, it was fun to see kanto again, even if I absolutely hated how airy and ugly the soundtrack was.
The lack of wild battles was annoying though, because I could barely force the kid to encounter new pokemon when they were just, out in the open and there was no surpise of randomly seeing new shit.
Definitely not really worth the 60, probably should have been a 30-40 game instead, but it's decent

Also I forgot to mention that you can only play with a single joycon, you can't turn it sideways either like in smash

You can also play with the pokeball+ which is even worse, but being able to put a poke in it and make do noises and spin stops for you in GO is like a nostalgia pokewalker.

All in all they made it to cater to us adults that started with Red/Blue/Yellow, and to fish the GO crowd.

For me It was kinda fun until Koga/Sabrina.
The go mechanic becomes tedious and boring after a while.
Also nothing changed from RBY, once you start to remember things theres really no reason to keep going.
It can be a fun game for people who never played Kanto or played It once or twice and dont remember shit about it.
Definitely not worth 60 dollars.

I don't really care how Pokemon are caught. Seeing I had barely touched Go, LGPE felt refreshing. I liked seeing them move around the screen. Sue me.

As far as difficulty is concerned, it felt about the same as SM. I didn't use candies (why would you do it during the main story?), and I counteracted the Exp. Share by training 8 Pokemon. I only taught Eevee the Ice move, for that matter. The Elite Four and rematches were pretty fun.

I only rented the game ($60 is steep for anything but a top-quality game), but I'm glad I did and that I'll also get to see my nephew play and teach him the ropes. I chose LGP over SwSh for him.
