Even though I grew up with the DS games and would most likely prefer them and Emerald if I were to play every game, I still absolutely love the older designs of Gens 1, 2, and even a handful of 3 over the DS era shit and especially the terrible nu-mons. I really wish they stuck to the simpler designs like OP's pic related; not only would they have looked a lot better, they could also spend all that time adding bits and bobs on a few new mons and features.
