The only reason we ended up with such horrific complex bans back then was because they didn't want to ban them outright because they're "the generational gimmick".

Are they suspect testing it or are they removing it without a suspect test like they did with Shadow tag (which effects 5 pokemon) and moody (which effects 4 pokemon)

I'm torn. On one hand, it feels wrong to support such a blatant dick move on Gamefreak's part, especially because every mon is someone's favorite.
But on the other hand, seeing how people adapt their strategies with old Pokemon removed is interesting. Seismitoad, Rotom Heat, and Mandibuzz wouldn't have been OU if not for the dex cut.

eh there's a big gaping hole in the meta for a bulky fire type with heatran dead so it's got some merit being good.

I don't think so at all. I fucking hate rotom forms and their brainless voltswitch spam.
Heatran was a much better pokemon with better utility and wasn't complete aids to play against. I wish she hadn't gotten snapped.
I'm just saying Rotom-H has merit besides just checking Darmanitan.

Maybe I’m a brainlet but I think the whole Dynamax ban is stupid. It’s supposed to be a radical change to the gameplay. It feels similar to if they banned Steel and Dark types in Gen 2 because they messed with Psychic types, which were supposed to be dominant.

The difference is that Psychic was utterly dominant in gen 1, and adding Steel and Dark types balanced them out by giving them something to actually worry about.
In theory, Dynamax is balanced and doesn't change anything and doesn't put the strong mons down at all. In practice, it makes the strong mons even stronger and the disparity even more obvious.
