The exact same thing. What mattered was Red's battle spirit, not so much Charizard. They just used Charmander for symbolism to get the point across more easily to slow people.

fucking can't. honestly the entire pokemon lore and story of it all is fucking bullshit. pokeballs as a concept as well. what's their history? where the fuck do they go once you thrown them and a mon pops out? back to your hand magically? how does the growing/shrinking mechanism work? they got teleportation for items like pokeballs as well and it works automatically once you catch a 7th mon. why and how does that shit work? why the fuck do we not know shit about the government and its laws in the pokemon series?
